The Science of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry

INTRODUCTION

The  science of Periodontics and restorative Dentistry was evolved in 1981 by Dr. Gerald Kramer Chairman of

the periodontal Department Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

At this time Dr. Gerald Kramer released  a journal in conjunction with the Quintessence publications named the

Periodontal Restorative Journal with Dr. Myron Nevins as a Co-Chairman.

The first International Meeting for the International Perio-Restorative was held in 1981 at Boston city in Copley

place and was met by tremendous success Internationally and remained to be the icon Meeting at Boston city each 3 years up till  today .

The credit goes back to Dr. Myron Nevins who kept the legacy of Dr. Gerald Kramer for this science surviving showing the Impact of  the Science of Periodontics on the Restorative Dentistry.

The integration of the restorative Dentistry with the periodontal concepts should be in intimate  relation for the success of any restoration starting by a filling and ending by full mouth reconstruction .

Margins and Embrasures of these restorations are of prime considerations to preserve the integrity of the periodontium  .
