In case where all the gums of the patient are dark by nature and not some spots in this case more invasive procedure called Free gingival graft . This procedure include a band of tissue dissected from the roof of your mouth (palate) as a donor site ranging from 0.75mm to 1.25mm in thickness and sutured to the  recipient site .This procedure is called Free gingival graft. The palate (roof of the mouth ) usually has pinkish color completely different color from the facial dark gums of the patient.
